Stainton’s is partnering with Project Backpack to benefit kids in need, and you can help!
Every year, thousands of children living in poverty return to school without adequate supplies for the year. This can seriously affect a child’s education and leave them feeling inferior and embarrassed.
Your donations will assist Stainton’s with purchasing backpacks and filling them with grade-appropriate supplies for local students who need them. Together, we can help them get excited about the new school year and start it off on the right foot!
So how can you help?
- Donate supplies. You’ll notice a big “school bus” box at the front of the store where you can donate things like pencils, small pencil sharpeners, erasers, markers, crayons, highlighters, notebooks, child-safe scissors, and, of course, backpacks!
- Donate money. We have a collection box right at the register for monetary donations that will help us purchase all of the supplies listed above.
Every donation, no matter how small, can make a huge difference in a child’s life!

This month, Stainton’s is partnering with the Ocean City Police Department to bring joy to underprivileged children through the Shop with a Cop program.
Your donations give children the opportunity to enjoy breakfast with Santa and several other fun activities before traveling to local stores with OCPD officers. Each child is given a gift certificate that allows them to purchase presents—and OC’s finest are at the ready to help them with their selections.
Your donations will also help fund other great holiday events sponsored by the OCPD, including a day spent with the kids at the 4th Street Head Start Daycare and a fun-filled evening at Ocean City Primary School.
Help us spread joy to the kids who need it most this holiday season! For more information or to make a donation, stop in to Stainton’s or give us a call at 609-545-8688.

This month, we’re partnering with Heart of Surfing, a local organization that provides free surfing and skateboarding lessons to kids with special needs, like autism. In addition to creating joy, these lessons instill kids with confidence and help them develop skills like balance and coordination. Our partnership was inspired by John Eckbold, owner of Flying J Metal Arts, who was born with Spina Bifida and has created an amazing life and business in spite of his diagnosis. Click here to learn more about John’s story of overcoming disability and here to learn more about Heart of Surfing. And if you’d like to support this wonderful organization with us, stop in any day to make a donation!
